為什麼要學音樂？

   
焦元溥／聯合晚報

今天是許多學校的開學日，

也是許多家長讓孩子學習才藝的起點。

在這一天，

僅提供個人些許感想給所有要子女學音樂的父母，

希望大家能嚴肅思考「為什麼要學音樂？」

學音樂的孩子也會變壞

學音樂的孩子不會變壞？

答案當然錯，而且大錯特錯。

不用去提史上作曲家、演奏家的諸多敗德劣行，

只要想想兩週前在機場堂而皇之，

毫無恥感地 說自己「只是人頭」的鋼琴主修小姐，

大概就可知道學音樂和學不學壞完全是兩回事。

至於學音樂能否有積極的好處？

我實在不知。但幾乎可以確定的，

是不帶功利之心地

培養下一代對美的感受、增進藝術修養，

出發點並沒有錯，

但音樂真的沒那麼大能耐讓人不變壞。

「訓有方，保不定日後做強梁」，就算不做強梁，

當個「疑似國際洗錢罪犯」也夠可悲。

期望音樂陶冶品格，雖然功效堪慮，至少立意良善。

但若學音樂乃出於算計，讓小孩在校可以表演，

客人拜訪可以炫耀，申請入學可以加分，

那多半 只造成一批批學音樂又恨音樂的小孩，

不僅摧毀他們對藝術的感受，

也讓音樂教學嚴重扭曲。

台灣音樂教育，

已充滿各種莫名其妙的檢定與比賽，

許多癡心家長也就帶著孩子在山頭派系中狂拜碼頭、

敬奉高額學費。

藝術不見得能讓人學好，但變態畸形的環境，

卻往往令人學壞。

除非打定主意要考驗子女能否出淤泥而不染，

不然請格外三思。

人生只有音樂，更是錯誤

最後，所有我認識的西方音樂名家，

都不解為何許多東方學生，

明明對音樂缺乏熱情卻還繼續學習，

彷彿人生只有音樂這個選項。

許多家長只想到已 投入大量時間金錢於音樂學習，

就認為子女該持續學習以「回本」，

結果便是諸多父母樂此不疲地要孩子在六歲定人生，

在國小進入音樂班時決定他們的未來。

尼采 說「沒有音樂，人生是個錯誤」，

但人生若只有音樂，那更是錯誤。

「若愛是為了美麗，可別愛我！去愛太陽，她金髮閃閃；

若愛是為了青春，可別愛我！去愛春天，她年年年輕！

若愛是為了珍寶，可別愛我！去愛人魚，她擁晶瑩珍珠……」

為什麼要學音樂？

若答案不是音樂，請審慎思考音樂還值不值得學。
